Happy Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras is an excellent employee engagement holiday. Mardi Gras Day this year falls out on March 1, 2022, Fat Tuesday as many call it, is the last day of the Carnival season as it always falls the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

We have a great opportunity to celebrate and show our appreciation to the employees. The staff always looks forward to the Mardi Gras party knowing that it is always going to be fun, enjoyable with a new twist each year, and most of all that management appreciates them.  This is a wonderful time for all involved from the planners to the participants, I would highly recommend all Skilled Nursing Facilities to take advantage of this opportunity.

This can be shown in an elaborate party, it nearly always involves the use of masks and costumes by its participants, and the most popular celebratory colors are purple, green, and gold. Make sure to have plenty of baskets of Mardi Gras beads and trinkets spread throughout the facility, at nurses’ stations, break rooms, the reception desk, and other areas that staff will notice them and appreciate them.

Make sure to serve Mardi Gras traditional foods like shrimp étouffée, jambalaya, or red beans and rice, or fix something unexpected for a group of party guests like warm gumbo dip or cornbread hush puppies and of course don’t forget the Paczki. Have a costume contest where the residents get to vote on who’s costume is the best giving out a prize to the winner. This will allow the residents to get in on the fun. Most importantly make it an enjoyable experience where the staff knows how much there are appreciated.

The more ways we can find to show our appreciation to the Healthcare workers and make them feel special, the more encouraged they are to remain with the facility.

Wishing everyone a Happy Mardi Gras!!!!!!
